Turtling up and not attacking may protect your life total, but stalling defensively like this isnt really in your best interest in the long run since your opponents will still be taking swings at other people, asking questions and getting more intel while you hide in your fort

Their number was just too damn high

Some of these catch-up cards at least guarantee to give you something, like Archaeomancer's Map and Stoic Farmer, and while I much prefer this design than the all-or-nothing forms of catch-up cards, they still feel real bad if you aren't ramping with them

This keeps them on the back-foot and dancing to your tune until you're ready to deploy characters with 'Evasive' (meaning they can't be challenged unless the other card has Evasive too)
