It's a $32 (it'll likely go down some ) card because it's a phenomenal removal spell
It was a very cool design moment, where people were trying to figure out what we thought was cool to include in real time
It's cheap to cast, instant speed, and can turn an opposing commander into a 2/2 without giving its controller a chance to put it back into the command zone
The first stage, which I will call "theory crafting", was when Richard Garfield developed the core concepts of the game and mostly worked by himself
A key factor here is a very cheap removal suite made up of three Cut Down, four Go for the Throat, and both The Wandering Emperor and Gixs Command
